How to remove an Overhead DVD player?

Overhead DVD players have become more popular as the technology gets cheaper and easier to install. These are particularly popular in minivans as backseat entertainment for passengers and children. If you added one to your minivan, you may want to take it out prior to selling the vehicle. The removal process can change a bit between vehicles and different types of overhead DVD players, but the basic process is the same throughout.

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

Philips-head screwdriver
1/4-inch ratchet and socket set
Wire cutters

   1.Sit in the vehicle next to the overhead DVD player. Locate the mounting screws for the player, which are either behind a drop-down monitor or around the perimeter of the unit.
   2.Unbolt the overhead DVD player from the headliner using the Philips-head screwdriver or the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket, depending on the type of fastener securing it to the vehicle.
   3.Carefully lower the overhead DVD player from the headliner. Look to see if the player is connected via a harness or crimped wires. Unplug the harness if that's the case; if it's hardwired in place, use the wire cutters to separate the DVD player from the vehicle.

How to Mount a DVD Player for the Headrest?

Personal DVD players can be installed in a car inside the front seat headrests for viewing by back seat passengers. Electronics and auto parts retailers offer DVD players specifically designed for this. Mounting such a player in the car requires you to cut holes in the headrest itself. With some simple tools and 30 minutes, you'll have a your own mobile screening room

Instructions
Things You'll Need:

    * Paper clip
    * Knife
    * Screwdriver
    * Rubber cement

   1.Lift up the seat's headrest from underneath as far as you can then push the end of a paperclip into the hole in the headrest mount to disengage and remove it from the seat. Pull the upholstery off of the headrest.
   2.Trace an outline of the DVD player's mounting frame on the back side of the headrest's foam using a felt tip marker.
   3.Cut a hole in the foam with a knife around the drawn outline. Using the DVD frame as a guide, hollow out the hole until the frame fits securely in the hole.
   4.Slip the upholstery cover back onto the headrest.
   5.Cut an "X" in the upholstery where it covers the hole in the foam using a knife. Fold the four triangle pieces from the cut down inside the hole.
   6.Apply rubber cement to the bottom surface of the headrest hole.
   7.Press the DVD player's empty mounting frame into the headrest hole once the rubber cement begins to set. Wait for the cement to dry.
   8.Locate the holes in the mounting frame for routing the DVD player's wires. Twist and drill into the foam through the hole using a Phillips head screwdriver.
   9.Install the DVD player into the mounting frame following the player's installation instructions, routing the wires through the hole in the frame.
